Dr. Kristen L. Carlo graduated from Rutgers University, New Brunswick campus, in 2005 with a B.A. in Biological Sciences along with a minor in sociology. She continued her education at the University of Medicine and Dentistry School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford, NJ, now known as Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine. Her idea of being a physician was based on helping a person as a whole, listening to them, and getting to know each person as an individual. Her training in medicine and osteopathy allowed her to obtain her career goal in helping and treating those in need of mental health services.

After completion of medical school in 2009, Dr. Carlo started her residency training in general psychiatry at the medical institution formerly known as UMDNJ - Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in Piscataway, NJ. The institution is now known as Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. During her years in residency, she gained valuable training in general adult psychiatry but she continued to pursue her dream of working with children and adolescents with the goal to be able to grow with individuals starting at a young age and helping them through life. She completed her training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in June of 2014. She is board certified in both General Adult Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Dr. Carlo is a proud mother and dedicated physician. Her years of training in medicine and psychiatry lead her to open her own practice. Her dedication in this field hopes to serve her community well. Her practice welcomes children of all ages and adults.
